I met a pretty cool guy whose name is Cristian Rodriguez. I was just sitting by the Gatov-East Gallery debating whether or not I should leave and wing the interviews by myself, until he just came up to me and asked if we could interview each other. I should seriously stop worrying, because nine times out of ten people come up to me.
Cristian is an engineering major, and he hopes to do well. Every time I hear someone saying that they’re going into engineering, I feel a pang of guilt and uncertainty. I think I could have really gone into engineering if I really tried. Math is actually pretty fun when you know what to do. Also, engineering is practical. There will almost always be jobs for engineers.
So, Cristian isn’t crazy about art. While we were talking, he seemed to be in a hurry, like he wanted to get this over with. I felt the same way, to be honest.
Things got a little more interesting when we talked about religion. I mentioned that I was in KCCC (Korean Campus Crusaders for Christ). He said he was Catholic, and didn’t give much thought to religion. Overall, I felt like that was a pretty productive conversation.
